One of my PCs is dedicated to HCMD2 and has been working fine. It suddenly refused to report completed tasks or download new tasks. I had 2 tasks ready to report, and I stupidly reset the project and lost these 2 tasks. When I asked for an update it tried to fetch a scheduler list, and after a while it switched to 'communication deffered 24h'. I have rebooted and tried again with the same result.
----------------------------------------In the simple view, BOINC reports 'waiting to contact project servers', but the other PCs are contacting the servers OK. I have another PC also dedicated to HCMD2 and it's running well. Any ideas please. ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Jun 23, 2009 8:56:17 PM] |

I even tried installing the latest version of BOINC, but it still does exactly the same.

Is work fetch actually on in the Project tab? The button should show "No New Tasks" if yes. Should though print it's not fetching any.
----------------------------------------What about seti... does it have any, is it getting any? I don't see work starting at all. Think we need to set a few log flags in the cc_config.xml to find out what BOINC is thinking. Start by adding this: <work_fetch_debug>1</work_fetch_debug> to the <log_flags> section of said file. If it does not exist, come back.

Work fetch is on, and 'No new tasks' shows in the window.
I have Suspended SETI, but if I do an 'update request', it sends a scheduler request and says that it's not reporting or requesting new tasks. I have made the changes to cc_config.xml What next? |

Post the log after hitting update with some time in between. The Defer is usually indicative of a contact fail with WCG, a push off because your client thinks it should wait till tomorrow... don't know yet.
----------------------------------------edit: and do make sure for reread the config file via the advanced menu option.

The cc_config.xml looks like this:
- <cc_config> <log_flags /> - <options> <dont_contact_ref_site>1</dont_contact_ref_site> <work_fetch_debug>1</work_fetch_debug> </options> </cc_config> - <!-- View http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/ClientMessages for full set of options and some explanations --> but I get a message when I start BOINC that says 2009/06/23 06:45:59 PM Unrecognized tag in cc_config.xml: <work_fetch_debug> Please help. |

Yes we know Scribe, but someone has to test it in production... the scheduler for 6.6.36 though I'm already convinced is a dog, a big dog, but they're not believing me, but reports are mounting. Just want to find out why it's doing it. Maybe write rights to the data_dir?
