Problem with 'Tell Your Friends' link (RESOLVED)

When I click on the 'Tell Your Friends' link, I receive the error message 'The application is unavailable at this time, please try again later. Your action has resulted in an error'. I tried it several times on several different days with no success.

Then I finally discovered that the only time the link works for me is during the small window while Statistics are being run.
Why is the link not working during the rest of the day?
If this link is meant to work only while stats are running, it would be helpful if the error message stated that fact instead of the vague 'try again later'.

If this happens, try logging out and back in again.

Re: Problem with 'Tell Your Friends' link

I just logged out and signed back in. I still get the same error msg. Any other suggestions?

Yesterday I kept trying the link while the stats where running and it consistently worked OK. The moment stats were done and I could get back into the My Grid page, then the Tell Your Friends link no longer worked.

Maybe needing to clear you browser cache / cookie store, exit browser [what browser/version?) and restart.

From which page are you trying to access TaF, since the link that works for me is actually on the My Grid page... and that you can only access when the stats are not updating ;>)

There's javascript all over the place being used. Firefox with NoScript has done funny things at times.

Edit: The other TaF link on the About Us page work for me too.

Didactylos
This is probably not the best place to put it, but have you seen the Ufie team page.

All I get is;

Service Temporarily Unavailable
The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.

Re: Problem with 'Tell Your Friends' link

I'm using IE7. I had a problem with my DSL line the other day and in trying to resolve that problem Support had me clear my cache and cookies. So I don't think that is causing the problem. The link isn't working now and it wasn't working before the DSL problem either. I also rebooted earlier today and that didn't help.

I've tried the link from every possible tab (Home, About Us, Research, Stats, and My Grid) and they all give me the same error. I was actually on the TAF page when the stats finished running yesterday. I hit the IE7 Refresh arrows from that page and it flipped to the error msg page.

If it makes any difference, I'm running Vista Business x86 Editon, Service Pack 1.

Re: Problem with 'Tell Your Friends' link

Update - I just found that if I signout and don't sign back in then the TAF links work OK (except for on the My Grid page which I can't access while signed out).

But will the email feature actually work while I'm signed out? Not sure since I didn't try it.

Edit - time to get some sleep. I'll check back in on this thread in the morning. Thanks for your help so far.

Re: Problem with 'Tell Your Friends' link

How would you see your data on the My Grid page, when not logged in?

Yes, the feature should work, but your own member name and email address will not be pre-filled in the sender box.

Good you got it solved though. Please edit opening post title and insert [RESOLVED] so we all know.
