confused Old batch or new cutoff limit?

On 15/06 I got WU CMD2_0002-RADIA.clustersOccur-ZPR1.clustersOccur_290_1 on one of my machines. This WU now ran for >6.5h and is still at 25.5% completed. It checkpoints more or less regularly.
From the name CMD2_0002-... it looks as if this is from an older batch which not had the 4 hour cutoff limit.
Are we recalculating an older batch at the moment? Or is this a WU with a higher cutoff limit?
I am just curious. I will let it run and see what happens.
Greetings
Thorsten

Re: Old batch or new cutoff limit?

What version is this running and what version was/were the others run in, for this work unit distribution? Work units made for 6.13 will under 6.14 still show the continuation, I'm fairly sure from all the reading.

It's running with 6.14 on my machine. The wingman has just finished and I can see it's 6.14 there, too.

shock Re: Old batch or new cutoff limit?

Update:

My WU finshed after >21h and was validated as Error. Log does not show any problems:

<![CDATA[

INFO: No state to restore. Start from the beginning.
called boinc_finish

</stderr_txt>

It has been a very long time since I had my last error on a regular WU with this machine thinking . Now a 3rd copy has been released.

Re: Old batch or new cutoff limit?

I'd not further worry about it... now got CMD2_0008 in the queue and after 1145 results of this project validated still got to get the first error. Don't think my machines are anything special.

Re: Old batch or new cutoff limit?

Another update:

The replacement WU was returned and is valid. Both wingmen used rather old clients. xxx_0: 5.4.9 and xxx_2: 5.10.45 vs. my xxx_1: 6.2.28.

Is there an incompatibility between BOINC versions 5 and 6 on this project? thinking

It is annoying that nearly a whole day of work went down the gully. angry

And I am still wondering how a CMD2_0002 found its way out while CMD2_0008, _0009 and _0010 were distributed (got also a _0011 recently).

Greetings

Re: Old batch or new cutoff limit?

Incompatibility between clients. NO. The client is a task manager. WCG provides the wrapped, always the same to allow the client to do the timekeeping. That said development clients are known to occasionally eat results and we have the illusive case of HPF2 on Vista working for most but not all on client 6, yet working then on 5.10.45, so if at all, client 6 has never been completely above suspicion, to me, and wish I could put my finger on what that nagging feeling causes.

How a 0002 found it's way out while 8,9, 10 are in circulation?... well if you look at the batch progress and one of the HCMD2 team members reporting that 1 and 2 are nearly complete, you know how long it takes to get all positions crunched and tallied for each protein.

Re: Old batch or new cutoff limit?

There are still a handful of work units let from cmd20001 and cmd20002 out in the wild. These are the old style work units so be patient with them. cmd20003 and above are all the new style work units.
