I just updated the boinc client to it's latest version (not the version on WCG) and it says there is no work available for me.
----------------------------------------I updated the client because I was running out of tasks and I thougt ther might've been a bug because there was no error on the messages list. This is not downloading work either but it says: Message Sent From Server: No Work Sent Message Sent From Server: No work is available for the applications you have selected. Please check your settings on the website. Message Sent From Server: (won't finish in time) Computer on 69.9% of time, BOINC on 66.8% of that. Now, the profile for this cumputer has this projects checked: Beta Testing Influenza... (Dunno the full name for the "My Grid" section is being updated) The Clean Energy Project Opt me in for work in another project if there is no work available for those I selected Opt me in for projects as they become available Also if I try and update the project manually (through the "Update" button under "Projects" tab) I get ths messages: update requested by user Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. Requesting new tasks for GPU Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks What could be wrong? [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jun 15, 2009 12:56:19 AM] |

I just updated the boinc client to it's latest version (not the version on WCG) and it says there is no work available for me. The newest Berkeley BOINC version may do things we are not yet aware of, and we already know that it contains many and lively bugs.Behavio(u)r cannot be guaranteed. For best results here, BOINC should be reverted to the WCG supported version. Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks This can sometimes mean that too many user requests were asked for in a short amount of time. After the next countdown completes for a server request, BOINC may yet get work.

Hello ,
won't finish in time The server thinks that you cannot finish what you already have downloaded before the deadline. Start finishing and returning work units. Eventually the server will send you more.Lawrence |

Thank you all for your responses.
I waited for the countdown to finish, which happened near 2 hours ago I haven't had tasks in queue the whole day. The reason why I upgraded is because I wasn't getting jobs on my other Boinc Client either but I was getting no error messages. |

Requesting new tasks for GPU Whatever BOINC version you have is requesting tasks for GPU crunching which is not yet available on WCG. I don't know what setting in BOINC that might be, but the recommended version will not request GPU tasks. Cheers

I just downgraded to the latest supported boinc client version by wcg and still not receiving any jobs. I'm getting a different message this time though:
----------------------------------------Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. Requesting 0 seconds of work, reporting 0 completed tasks Scheduler request succeeded: got 0 new tasks Editing: I also realized now that I have 2 tasks running now, but I think those are 2 task that were this morning (and I thought I had reported them already) for 1 is 96.573% done and the other is 53.374% done. ----------------------------------------the last and this previous one Message Sent From Server: (won't finish in time) Computer on 69.9% of time, BOINC on 66.8% of that. indicates your machine had a period it was doing less than the client needed to complete the tasks you have in task buffer/underway, so now because of this, work fetch has been blocked until your present tasks finish. Let it run for 24 hours none stop and the situation should normalize. let us know

I cannot let it run for 24 hours non-stop because I have to turn it off to go to work (it's a laptop).
If that is the situation then the fact that for some reason my tasks, when they start, say 400+ hrs to completion (sometimes 500+). Of course they do not take that much time, they don't take more than 20 hours on the most consuming tasks, some are finished in 5 hours or so. Last night, when the 2 tasks I was working on finished, 2 more tasks where downloaded (with an unusually large amount of downloads). This is weird to me because I have to configured to buffer work for up to 7 days. |

7 days is way too much for a part time machine... there only needs to be one task running much longer than predicted and the client gets all upset. WCG recommends 4 days tops. Anyway, you got work, so it will adjust slowly.

It isn't actually a part time computer, I just shut it down to and from work/university. The rest of the time is on (sometimes is just in stand-by while going from one place to another).
Anyways, I'll change it to 4 days like you said (I would appreciate if you could explain why). I also wanna say that I've always had it like that and have only canceled 2 task on my desktop due to I knew I wasn't going to complete them in time (the desktop is running normally btw). This is what I get now when I update the project: Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. Requesting 0 seconds of work, reporting 1 completed tasks Scheduler request succeeded: got 0 new tasks I now don't get the insufficient time error although the only 2 (new) tasks report that will be completed in 300 and 440 hrs respectively. The issue is probably related to the amount of time being so huge. Is there anything I can do to fix that? |
