Yeah, an additional overall medal is a cool idea.
----------------------------------------Maybe it's an idea to give it a slightly different character then the project badges, like: overall bronze medal for the top 25% crunchers silver medal for the top 10% gold medal for the top 3% platinum for top 1% diamond for top 0,1% That way you'll have to keep crunching to keep your medal! Once you stop you'll loose it sooner or later. It's just another thought. |

well, that's kind of unfair to us people who give all we can but don't have as much money/computers as others :/
i'd lose all my badges if that happened. |

Hang on, I was not suggesting to change the way the project badges are awarded. I was following up on a suggestion to create some sort of extra overall medal for your total CPU-time (of all projects together).
----------------------------------------I agree that any kind of new badge/medal scheme will have to leave the already earned badges in tact. It would not be fair to change that. |

Oh for Pete's sake have we been reduced to this rubbish again?
ok, so let's get it correct this time shall we? Oh, and recall; "We don't need no stinking badges!" You get your badges at these intervals Bronze - 1,000 years contribution to a particular project Silver - 10,000 years contribution to a particular project Gold - 100,000 years contribution to a particular project Platinum - 1,000,000 years contribution to a project Diamond - 10,000,000 years contribution to a project Oh, to get a nice warm fuzzy and recognition, you get a nice check box by your name for contributing a single contribution to a single project! |

Hi mariokonrad, time flies for many, particular if the lucky owner of a quad or more. Than a gold for a research project is possible within 23 days. An overall medal/badge/certificate is being looked at. thanks for contributing. Certificate would be nice ![]() |

time flies for many, particular if the lucky owner of a quad or more. Than a gold for a research project is possible within 23 days. I believe that a diamond [one year] level is overdue. . . . we are crunching in a world of V-8 servers and HT'ed i7's: 90 days is not the challenge it once was, not to mention the big dogs with enough computers to heat an office building. In discussions with some of my team mates, they crunch WCG to gold or when a new project comes on the scene and then go somewhere else. . . . one of my team mates has gold in everything [except Beta] and is already going for 1 year in Discovering Dengue Drugs - Together, since it is supposedly on the downhill side and his favorite subprojects in anticipation of a diamond level. A one year level would seem to be a no-brainer. An overall medal/badge/certificate is being looked at. A 5, 10 or 20 year type of combined milestone? . . . that might be an interesting incentive. ![]() |

i am guessing diamond would actually annoy some people who managed to make it to gold on all projects the is guess its 15 team or so... or is it 16 now.. or 17...
----------------------------------------well anyways the people who managed to get all projects to the gold might actually get annoyed if another level was added and ther badges didnt match anymore and the retired projects couldn't be brought up to that level personally i would love to see more badges out there but i just wonder how many people would hate the idea ![]() |
