----------------------------------------it helps prompt people wanting to work on projects they might not otherwise... i mean if a project came out and you were told to get a gold you needed 1 year would you do it? ![]() |

nasher et al,
----------------------------------------the suggestion of shifting the bronze/silver/gold requirements up is a none starter. These levels will remain attainable for each and every donateur. cheers

.... if a project came out and you were told to get a gold you needed 1 year would you do it? Sure I would. I have over 1 year on 7 projects, 1 project very closeto 1 year, and another project is at about 1/3 of a year and still crunching (1+ years on 2 projects, 2+ years on 1 project, 3+ years on 1 project, 5+ years on 1 project, 8+ years on 1 project, and 10+ years on 1 project.) I don't jump on a new project just long enough to get a gold badge for that project and then leave........ If I leave a project it's for a reason - like way too many errors on CEP - not because I have a badge for that project. I have a gold Beta badge but I still run Betas knowing full well that I'm likely to get errors on Beta projects while the bugs are being worked out. I do it to help. ![]() |

yes sekerob i know its probably a dead issue
----------------------------------------the point i was trying to get across was that some people out there only have 1 computer or limited use and geting to 15 days (for the first badge) is a challange for them. i was trying to point out that if a project was set for 90 day before a badge a person might not work on that project if they were more intrested in another project... for instance myself i am not that hyped up on the FLU project but i can do 90 days of it to get the gold badge... i am kinda iffy on the maliaria project also but again i did spend 129 days on it by now.. there are always my favorites like HIV and cancer (for me are most important ) then sub favorites like CEP beyond that im workin for the badge and then i will do some reserch comparitive to decide if the project will get more processer time from me... but if i needed to do 90 days to get a bronze and.... i might not have bothered with many of the other projects casue right now i only have 1 year in 2 projects and aproching on a 3rd do I think more badges beyond bronze silver gold would spur projects on some.. yes i do... do i understand that its probaly not going to happen any time soon... yes i do... ![]() |

Having read all the above I guess it will be something like:
----------------------------------------14 days = bronze 45 days = silver 90 days = gold 1 year = new badge (platinum?) 10 years = new badge (diamond?) (not that that would change anything for me, the maximum I have is 189 days.. ) |

I will have problems to reach every gold badge. But after I reached everyone, I will not stop working on wcg. 90 days is a lot of time. But you can reach it, if you want to. I suggest a Badge for the complete time you worked on wcg -> like 1 year bronze, 5 years silver, 10 years gold, 50 years platin, 100 years diamont.

Hi mariokonrad,
----------------------------------------time flies for many, particular if the lucky owner of a quad or more. Than a gold for a research project is possible within 23 days. An overall medal/badge/certificate is being looked at. thanks for contributing.

Having now been crunching on WCG for 4 years (all up until the turn of this year, on a single core computer - I've only been upgraded now by the company I work for, to a dual core processor), I'm still 5 badges short of having Gold in all current projects. As you say, it IS still possible for even the total beginers to get Gold in each and every project, but boy, does it seem to take an eternity... Just remember the hare and the toitoise... we'll eventually get there - and, in the process, each and every WU that gets crunched, is a potential key turning point to the advancement of science ![]() ![]() |
