Now this is a full thread hijack in action.
----------------------------------------![]() 2 to 2.5 days of original work left ... wonder how many more badges will be won or promoted to a higher level 42 CPU years the last day were equal to 1,095 Bronze, or 340 silver or 170 gold?

This machine is running WCG 24/7. It is attatched to numerous other projects but all are disabled. The other machine I have in this location is not attatched to as many, from memory, CPDN, Einstein, Leiden and Rosetta all of which are disabled at the moment, and it is running WCG 24/7 on all cores.
----------------------------------------I have been running BOINC since BOINC first started, I am familiar with it's quirks. Swap time is the 60 mimute BOINC default. If the cache expansion is requested at the WCG site, how could the client know to request more then it usually does? [Edit 1 times, last edit by adrianxw at Jul 22, 2009 7:54:47 PM] |

Requires 2 project updates (client-server contacts). 1st to transfer the device profile changes, 2nd to compute the new backfill need and request that.

Reasonable, but the machine has been grabbing wu's at least every 5 hours or so, so there would have been contact, many in fact.

Now this is a full thread hijack in action. wink Sekerob is right. If we go on trying to find what is wrong (normally Murphy stops once it has been unveiled, so it's not him) it would be better that you open a specific thread. That also gives other/future members with the same problem a better chance to find this discussion. (One may dream that they try...). My last comments here on this topic: I trust you that you think this machine is WCG only, but unless they are coming from another machine of yours I see credits for you this week from many other grids and from 4 for today only? Also I wonder since I am not a multi-grid cruncher: what if one of the inactive projects is sleeping, i.e. not currently sending WUs but still active in this machine? You will not see WUs from this project but Boinc will probably keep some queue "slots" free in case it would respond? Bye for here. Jean. |

Projects, even WCG projects, send work out to several people to crunch, (quorum), they do not award credit until the required minimum number has been reached. This could be days, weeks or even months after the wu was returned by me.
Whatever, I will not comment further. |

It looks like all the normal workunits are sent, there is no work available anymore.
----------------------------------------I should have enough cache to get my Emerald badge and it will still take 2-5 days for this to happen :-) Who else is going to get their next badge level during this period of running down the cache ? ![]()

Looking forward to the next stage in concluding this phase... the push out of extra copies to complete the WU's that have been slagging to come back. At that stage, there could be a "quorum complete, cancel all redundant copies" message going to the slow returning clients. Just that you know if there's excess in cache.

But Eye no notting ![]() Hi Sekerob, what does that mean exactly? Will our cached WUs be server aborted in a few days, even if we can deliver the units before due date?????? If yes, when will that happen? Or did I get you completely wrong? |
