Increasing the speed of RICE project

The Rice project is picking up speed again. We are increasing the share on the grid and members may notice the increase in runtime for this project. The space issues should be a thing of the distant past. Thank you again for your participation and patience on World Community Grid.

Re: Increasing the speed of RICE project

Thanks Uplinger for your positive news. At one time, the estimate end date for Rice was in August this year - although as I type, it's showing on Seks' graphs as April next year...

Hopefully, it won't be long before it's back on 2009 again - although will it still be up and running by the time the next (the 10th) project has come online? wink

Re: Increasing the speed of RICE project

Well, the 'upping' of this project certainly has already made a difference in the "estimated end date" - as, just a couple of days ago, it was at April 2010, now it's come in two months to February of next year.

At this pace, it'll be back into this year biggrin

Thus, badge hunters - if you haven't reached your particular goal, let this be a warning!!!!

Get a move on wink

Re: Increasing the speed of RICE project

Maybe I'll have to change the algo because the admin gave a firm-ish Mar.2010 as completion date. biggrin

Re: Increasing the speed of RICE project

Hi Patrick,

I noticed you also posted in HPF that you were not getting any WUs. Are you getting any WUs for any WCG subprojects? If not, please take a look at the messages in BOINC Manager and let us know if you see anything odd there.

Re: Increasing the speed of RICE project

Patrick, have you just got the Rice project and 'accept any other work...' box ticket?, as, if you've got 2 or more projects selected, then that may be why you're not getting as many WU's as you'd hoped for...

Re: Increasing the speed of RICE project

Currently got HPF2 and NRW selected. As well as work on other projects if none available.

If I increase my additional work buffer, I don't get any more WUs, even if I increase it from 4 days to 10 days.

I use version 5.10.30 (my PC doesn't like using newwer versions)

Re: Increasing the speed of RICE project

There's two scenario's here - either the 2 sub-projects have both run out of work for your configuration, or, if you've increased your buffer up to 10 days and it's already got quite a few WU's, then BOINC may be thinking that it's already got sufficient work...

If you can paste the relevant messages here from your Messages tab, then we'll have a better idea...

Re: Increasing the speed of RICE project

WU in tasks - only got the one that I am working on. (HCMD2)

If I adjust the additional WB and update projects, I get no additional WUs.
If I login on WCG and add another project, and do the same a couple of times, I still get no additional WUs.

I always have some thing to process, but haven't had any spare WUs in the buffer for the last few days.

If I look at my stats in Boinc, it says I have a data entry for August. The recent WU data is correct.
