confused How do I rename an agent?

Hello, I put the agent name on two computers to the exact same name and later decided that may have been a mistake. I renamed the second device on the webpage device manager but that didn't help. In the stats it only lists me as having 1 device installation. Can anyone help my situation?

Thank you for your time.

Construct --

I see that you recently joined us -- welcome to the World Community Grid! I looked at your stats and, as you said, only one device is listed.

I am unsure if you can change a device name from the "Device Manager" page. If you can, however, the change will only become effective when the device completes a result and sends it back to the server. Changes (for example device profile changes) are then sent back to the system along with the next work unit. Have you seen both of your systems return results since you made that change? If you have, then my guess is that you will not be able to change the name this way and the only suggestion I can make would be to un-install the software from one of your systems and then re-install it using a different device name this time (be sure, however, to indicate that you are an existing member and use your name "Construct" as you register it).

Let us know here what worked for you.

Re: How do I rename an agent?

To be on the safe side, I would, after the un-install, delete all the files before I re-downloaded and re-installed. I am not at all sure if this is necessary but .....

Anyway the correct directory to delete (if you so choose) would likey be Program files/WorldCommunityGird .

Re: How do I rename an agent?

You should be able to rename your device by signing into the web site, going to My Grid-> Device Manager-> Device Name. There change the name and click Save. The next time that device communicates with the server (when it is done with its work unit) the new device name should appear on the agent preferences window (checkmark icon).
