For the last 3 days I have been unable to update the WCG project. Communication is constantly being deferred and when the timer runs out it starts another one. I have been able to upload results but can't report them. Not getting any error messages.

I'm assuming you've used the update button. Are you still able to download tasks? Are you gettting anything in your message log like this:
10/06/2009 07:47:32 World Community Grid Reporting 3 completed tasks, not requesting new tasks and if so is the manager giving an explanation as to why completed tasks aren't reporting? |

Preferably first boot the computer, let BOINC start and resume the contact deferrals in the log, so we have a complete picture with system information.

Ok
----------------------------------------Was the line 10/06/2009 15:09:15||Running under account 0 modified? Mine says 06/09/09 15:51:59 Running under account boinc_master Did you do anything to this or other specific accounts related to BOINC on your computer? Is it a protected service install (runs even when no one is logged in) or an all user? I've got more questions later.

No the line hasn't been modified. But this is a new installation after installing a new hard drive.
----------------------------------------This is the only BOINC/WGC account and device I have. I believe it was installed under all users but I don't know for sure. "0" is the only user account in windows. ![]() |

Silly question, is the date of the message log entries June 10 or October 6, 2009?
----------------------------------------Probably not else you had other warning messages in the log. The 0 account I don't know. Rather strange as BOINC 6.2.28 should not install like that. edit: seems that an all user install puts in the user account, so that's not the issue.

10th of June 2009 I don't have backwards USA date format :)
----------------------------------------BTW Would it be possible to reinstall BOINC without losing reports? ![]() |

Greetings cw64,
Looking at your messages it appears as though it is working properly I do not see any lines in there that say "Deferring communication...". Can you go into the advanced view. Once there, can you go to the projects Tab and select World Community Grid and press update. Give it about a minute to get all the responses back from the server and then copy all messages and post them here. -Uplinger |

Those messages are from the advanced view.
----------------------------------------Deferring communication timer is on the projects tab under status.
