I am curious and i couldnt find another post on this (but i am sure someone will) and i couldnt find it in the faq (but im sure its there somewere)
----------------------------------------what i am wondering is if i do not have CEP selected will that mean i wont get any beta's from CEP or is beta completly independant. i am curious to find out if i am just unlucky on getting this recent batch of betas or if cause i am curently working to get a HCMD2 badge and only have it selected plus the send other work box... if that is why i am not geting beta's. im guessing im just being unlucky ![]() |

In your other post on the other thread you said you had it set for .2 of EXTRA work, what do you mean by that? And if that is the 'cache' what is your connect set to?

What if it were a new project? Anyway, the Beta Information FAQ in the Start Here forum, not hard to find, has a line, especially augmented to cover this. When that is established and the WCG tech has opened up the supply channel, will each work unit fetch request start with a call to the Beta queue, independent to any specific project preferences. This is invisible. No work available, no message logged.

30 min.. yep figured someone knew were it was.. i didnt see it and i did look.. thanks for your rapid response Also, in the past, there have been beta work units accidentally released without being tagged as beta (though their CPU times were counted towards beta), and if you did not have the Please opt me in to new projects as they become available. box checked below Available Projects you did not receive any of those. |

Beta units, not marked as such, but counting against the beta bucket, yet if you did not have the "opt me in for new projects" ticked (available since June 27, 2008), one would not get those anonymous beta units? Is this how to translate this for myself, and maybe others? I'd like to understand so I can incorporate this into the Beta FAQ
----------------------------------------thanks

Hello ZoSo,
I may be wrong, but my understanding is that, at least once, some Beta units were released without a human-readable title saying that they were Beta units. However, the server knew that they were Beta units. It was just confusing to our human members. Lawrence |
