Bump, as there is a test... the tasks that validated this morning [72] ran on average 40 hours, opposed to the 34 hours that came in first yesterday afternoon [37]. By that rate expect to see 44+ on those coming in this afternoon and quite a few beta badges getting their paint job during the night... or first appearance.

Last bump was over 3 months ago. This morning we had what looks like a 2010 beta session record of 9,783 validated work units. Not only that but speculating, that there was also a mean return time record set ... we're getting good at swapping jobs to push them up the queue. Possibly also a CPU time session max was achieved. Not keeping that information, but extrapolated it's a close call. 1,912 CPU days now versus 1,996 the record stood at of April 26, 2009 and May 22, 2009 had over 35,000 Beta tasks validating (a HCMD2 test if memory serves me well).

The method this beta was ran under worked very well for testing a variety of platforms and getting the results back in record time. Very nice work techs.

If there is one "Crunching Chart" thread not bumped frequent for a milestone it's this one. This noon, 500 runtime years were passed, runtime, because there's now GPU beta's included (IITC, there never was separate Beta feeding under the UD agent) :D
See HTTP://... well we're still on page one, so plz scroll back to the top for the glossy picture. Testing On --//-- P.S. There's that million test WU's milestone also coming... this year, maybe, as that needs 42,000 more to get there ;P |

nasher, I know it's frustrating but given the hit or miss on the beta's, there really is no 'method' or 'scheme' to get it. When they come, they come, and unless you are monitoring the boards every minute of the day it's hard to know exactly when they do hit.
I started out first wanting to 'work it' to get my beta badge but quickly discovered that it will cause grey hair (oops I mean silver hair) much sooner than I would ever get a silver badge, so decided it's not worth fretting over. When they hit, if you get one, or ten, great. One day I looked and there was an extra badge in my icons. It seems a beta got shot out during the night and I grabbed it and it was the one to push me over the threshold. Then there are other days where I will get the e mail saying there is a new post in the beta forum, it announced a bets release, and I didn't see a one of them. I watched pot never boils, pretend you don't care about the beta badge and it will come in no time :D Aaron |

Maybe the techs can limit the number of betas per machine so the wealth gets spread out. Probably difficult if they want specific OS or processors to check.

----------------------------------------I think Betas are limited (on CPU anyway) to 1 per thread? i.e my hyperthreaded core2 Duo can only have 2 betas at a time-no stockpiling. a completed ready to report Beta still counts against, I won't get another one until "x< number of threads" where x=Beta units sitting on that pc. Ascholten (and others) Other than micromanaging and staying stuck to the boards the absolute best way I've found to get betas is to run with minimal cache settings and connect often. ![]() |

Pulled from the dusted-over archives, http:/bit.ly/WCGBTA , which shows nearly 25 thousand results for 100 CPU days or 5.8 minutes a GPU result piece, for the average of [I'm not having a shadow of doubt] 558.8 credits per hour. Kaboom, some points ranking shakeups are afoot. :P
----------------------------------------P.S. did see a comment about the worst GPU test so far, by one cruncher... oh well, can't have it all ;>) edit: AND, those 558.8 per hour is 30.2 times more per task my lappie is getting, doing them in ~1:45 hours... 18 times slower. Right, that does it... maybe gotta run for a card beyond the GT220 that's compatible (I'll wait for the certified list though). [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Sep 7, 2012 1:21:34 PM] |

I had 1 running and never more than 3 in cache per GPU for any of the GPU beta tests so far. I think I read somewhere that is how the techs set it up.
