How not to report problems

Don't report every single invalid, error or merely unusual task you encounter. Doing this is a recipe for being ignored, and should you ever have a real problem, like the boy who cried "wolf", you won't get help when it really matters.

This advice applies in triplicate for beta tasks. Problems with beta tasks are expected, they are sometimes even designed to fail. If you can't cope with invalid or failing tasks, simply opt out of beta testing. Getting a badge isn't worth your sanity.

Don't complain or throw blame. Don't decide you know what the problem is or that you found a bug. If you tend to do these things, read http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html

No-one will see this "recommendation" as long as it's hidden-away in the chat-forum. Users having an error will much more likely either go directly to the project-forum, or to one of the "Support"-forums, or directly to Beta in case of beta.

Re: How not to report problems

This isn't addressed to casual seekers of help. This is addressed to those who give us a running commentary of every single problem they encounter (or think they encounter).

We have all the time in the world for anyone who genuinely needs help.
