Hi,
After 7.68 hours of work on something which looks like corrupted model ("Oxygen atom found with no bonded atoms" - free Oxygen??) and an attempt to divide by zero (not good, no matter what you do) this WU was finally terminated and set to Inconclusive status. Result Log events shows that this WU should be halted (or set Inconclusive) right after it started (True/False??) 1. We do not support BOINC 6.6. Our recommended version is BOINC 6.2.28
2. These warning messages are not a cause for concern, although they may indicate a problem with the work unit. http://wcg.wikia.com/wiki/Result_log_warnings 3. We do not investigate "inconclusive" results. Wait until it is revalidated. |

Sir, I do not understand "we do not support 6.6". I am running 6.6 and have been for a while. Have I done something wrong in running this version? Should I change to 6.2.28? Thank You |

Didactylos is English and very formal
---------------------------------------- . Yes you can run it, but 6.6. is buggy still and I just reported another [old resurfacing] bug, incorrectly storing preferences, testing it in production on my quad and got the "we cannot replicate", so it must be me. If you don't run CUDA/GPU science projects, you're better off on 6.2.28. Reverting takes but a minute. Uninstall, Reinstall and continue on with the projects underway.

Thank You Sekerob. I was afraid I had done something wrong. I have changed to 6.2.28 like you said as I haven't the slightest idea what CUDA/GPU is. Doesn't even sound like it would taste good!
Any way thanks. What we do without you! |

"what we do without you"... well continue on contributing spare CPU cycles of course ;>)
----------------------------------------CUDA/GPU is a programming framework using the video card, which can do certain science computations much faster than a regular CPU. Debates are 2-20 times depending on whom one wishes to believe. It's very off topic and discussed ad nauseam, so wont delve further into something WCG is hoping to have in the not immediate future.

1. We do not support BOINC 6.6. Our recommended version is BOINC 6.2.28 A point of confusion is that Berkeley is pushing the newest one, whether we support it or not. Many would see this in their message set and go download it....and then we say we don't support it. I found this message in mine. I wonder whether there is a way for WCG to turn this promo off or use our own. 5/25/2009 10:45:48 PM||A new version of BOINC (6.6.28) is available for your computer 5/25/2009 10:45:48 PM||Visit http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php to get it.

I wonder whether there is a way for WCG to turn this promo off or use our own. I thought that was something that could be set in the cc_config.xml file. My settings on one of my computers was: <client_version_check_url>http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/download.ph...ent_version_check_url> <client_download_url>http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/download.php</client_download_url> Another computer that did not have this setting was getting the notices about new versions of BOINC other than the WCG one frequently. When I copied this setting to that other computer, the Berkeley promos stopped appearing in my message log. It appears the mechanism for what you want is already there? |
