Boinc IA-64 Debian

Hello, Im currently running Debian's Boinc client on an Itanium server. I can not run WCG Wu's on it. It states that ia64-unknown-linux-gnu is not supported. Will WCG ever support the ia64 cpu? I know that SETI and SIMAP works with the Boinc I'm running. I mainly want to run WCG Only due to personal reasons. I would like to get my computers to crunch for WCG. Thank you for your time.

Take Care

Re: Boinc IA-64 Debian

Saw the Itanium question I think on the Berkeley forum some week or so ago and the special client compile it needed. Regrettably that answers the question. WCG currently is only supporting general platforms and has 36 applications to maintain (9 projects, soon 11), so anything very niche is just not an option with the limited resources they have.

Sorry to be the barer of the news.

No problem,I thought so. I remember there was a work-around per say by changing the client to i686. I have to dig and find that post. Most likely Ill go that route. Thank you

No. The discusion was about Windows on IA64. Tecman asked for Linux on IA64.

A BOINC client for Linux IA64 is available at the BOINC third party site : http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_other.php.

SETI@home and SIMAP has application support for Linux on IA64.
The SETI application availablity is listed here : http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=53611 and via the BOINC third party download page.
And the SIMAP applications : http://boinc.bio.wzw.tum.de/boincsimap/appdownloads.php

Different platform, same processor, same issue, same answer applying and the limited (same 2) projects that send out work for that platform. wink
