To improve our network contribution to this worthy cause, could we, the contributors, get periodic pc virus/worms 'vaccine' too from your sponsor(s) such as IBM, etc. so that we may maintain our pc support and useage, too?

well ... IBM and UD have done everything they can
to ensure that the grid doesn't increase our chances of getting hit by viruses... so the grid is safe ... |

I would be happy to get a form from these folks that would be accecptable for the IRS so I could deduct some of the cost of my system and the electricity... Yes.. it's true I'd have the silly thing anyway... but if a business can write off the cost of providing donations there's certainly some scaler that could be equated so that we can get that benefit too... After all... if I volunteer to drive hospital workers to or from work in bad weather... I can deduct the mileage.... how bout this???

There is already anti-virus, anti-malware and firewall software available free for use at home.
I suggest "Avast! Antivirus". Also "Ad-aware by Lavasoft", Spybot Search and Destroy" and "SpywareBlaster". And "ZoneAlarm" for a firewall. All these do work on Windows XP with SP2. It is not an exhaustive list. |

I'm really leaning on to your logical explanation to something that we may be compensated for other than 'points'. Yeah, such mileage deductibility...how about that Mr. World Community Grid administrator? We want to hear your response on this thread.
Thanks to sro, Rudy |
