I couldn't find any information about who was sponsoring this project. I wondered if it is backed by big pharmaceuticals companies, or if it's a University dept. or someone else?
----------------------------------------While I am all for advancing this kind of research, I would like to know more about where my computer time and energy is being used. Thanks in advance for an input. ![]() |

You just have to look a little farther and do some research on your own http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=25446 |

Dr. Stan Watowich and his research team at The University of Texas Medical Branch (Galveston, Texas, USA) are launching the initial phase of this project. They are collaborating with researchers from the Galveston National Laboratory (UTMB) for testing of drug candidates. Research -> Influenza Antiviral Drug Search -> Research Participants Yeah ... very hard to find if there is no direct link in the research overview. ![]() |

Okay, thanks for extremely fast responses. I guess I couldn't find the information which you easily provided:

I also found this IBM PR article interesting for background info: http://tinyurl.com/csfphe Thanks again. ![]() |

I also found this IBM PR article interesting for background info: http://tinyurl.com/csfphe Thanks again. Thanks for the link that was an interesting read. What I want to know is that once the University of Texas find these potential AntiViral results, what is there relationship to the Pharmaceutical groups? Do they sell the findings and then the big groups patent it or is it free for anyone to try and reproduce? What I am trying to ask is "Does anyone profit financially out of our free contributions?" What I am trying to ask is "Does anyone profit financially out of our free contributions?" No - that's one of the very first requirements of the results we'll (hopefully) produce - all the results will be in the 'Public Domain', thus, they'll be available to everyone ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by gb009761 at May 8, 2009 10:07:07 AM] |
