Re: Lots of Error results

I'm not 100% sure on this, but if the File Explorer option in Windows is set to show hidden files and directories you might not even notice, thus verify your Data_Directory attributes too if it still happens. The recommended Reinstall with All Users should certainly set everything straight.

Re: Lots of Error results

Well I'm still getting the Computation Errors and the results still come up with -108.
My Explorer is set to show hidden files and BOINC is installed for All Users.

Re: Lots of Error results

So, no more ideas? I even re-installed BOINC, but it didn't help either :/

Re: Lots of Error results

Hello gencha,
I do not have any bright ideas. You are using BOINC 6.2.28 so I assume that you are running the WCG version of BOINC on Vista OS. Is there anything in http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=12856 that is helpful?

Re: Lots of Error results

I'm actually on XP. And BOINC did work for several days. This issue came out of nowhere :(

Re: Lots of Error results

Hello gencha,
It is time to start being methodical.
Step 1: Post the start of the Message tab from BOINC Manager so thatat we can see what sort of system you have.
Step 2: tell us what security software is on your system. Sekerob has to tell his antivirus scanner not to scan the BOINC data directory so that it does not interfere with checkpointing (error -108).
Step 3: tell us how you are hooked to the internet. Sekerob is complaining about BOINC bugs that cause some quad-cores to mess up while communicating.

Sorry that I have no answers for you, but at least we can get everybody clued in on your situation and see if somebody has a bright idea.

The overdue projects normally didn't appear, but I obviously didn't run BOINC since the problems started unless I was trying a suggested solution from this thread.

2:
I am running Comodo Internet Security Suite which is mostly AV software but also includes parts to detect unwanted file modifications. So obviously it's a candidate for what could cause these problems. So I did disable it for the processing of a few work units (with no effect). I also had the application installed when BOINC still worked fine. But I do not want to say that it is impossible that Comodo is causing the issue.

3:
I'm connected via a static cable hookup (32/2Mbps in case that matters).
