Why would I have a whole bunch of Aborted work units on a machine this morning. All of the Aborts happened at the same time. They are from different projects. Everything seems to be normal now.
----------------------------------------I did copy my hardrive yesterday, to move to a different disk drive. I used Partition Magic to copy the partition and then replaced the hardrive. Everything else seems to be working ok, and BOINC seems ok today. A similar, though not quite the same thing happened to me about a year ago. I ended up doing a restart and all returned to normal. I never did figure out just what it was that went bonkers. It has not happened since. Memory leak, voltage variation, overheating, BOINC just getting lost, who knows ???? I would not worry too much if all appears normal now. Good luck.

I've never seen result names like that and all with IBM-E0DD93A5693 as suffix so guess they escaped the pen and were subsequently deemed surplus/redundant. No CPU time used, no loss. That said, if your PM did funny stuff, BOINC will abort them and clean the project and client_state files.

It looks like a new instance of the machine was created. All that I did was copy the hard drive. I did nothing with the files. Not sure why WCG thought it was a new machine. PM should make an exact copy. - Mitch ![]() ![]() ![]() |

That will have been the reason then... tasks not assigned by WCG to a device it knows. WCG uses a number of identifiers from a machine which sum makes up a host, what they exactly are I've not readily on hand.
