Work queue size and getting betas

How does the size of one's work queue affect if you get sent beta WUs? It seems that if the additional work buffer is set to 0, I get betas when they're available. If it's set to anything else, I get nothing. Since the betas have short deadlines anyway, why would that matter?

Re: Work queue size and getting betas

I think it's because your computer communicates with the project more often if you don't have a lot of work cached so it's able to get some Betas while they are available.

You are right, it does not. smile
What matters is to ask for work right when there are beta WUs ready to be distributed.
Your settings may have an effect on the probability to get some, but they are not used by the servers to send you some or not.
I think that most beta testers have set their extra work buffers to "anything else" and they do get beta WUs too.

Cheers. Jean.
