It's not a bug, it's a feature... To better handle many tasks at once, the client will intentionally wait #cpu * "Write to disk at most every N seconds" before checkpointing. pfff... having been a programmer for 5+ years and a devt. mgr for another 15, i wonder where you've got your programming-education..... cheers, Gerard |

pfff... having been a programmer for 5+ years and a devt. mgr for another 15, i wonder where you've got your programming-education..... Well, I'm not a programmer, and I don't have any programming-education... Oh, and in case it wasn't clear, it's not my suggestion to multiply by #cpu in this instance... Not sure who 1st. posted "it's not a bug it's a feature" about some of the BOINC-"features", but it's some years ago, and it looked like a good saying for this particular "feature". The "feature" is a quick-and-dirty fix to BOINC-clients inability to handle 500+ Tasks on client without hogging a cpu solely for BOINC-client. For the users hitting this performance-bottleneck, they could just as easily have increased the "write to disk"-intervall themselves... A "real" fix should be included in v6.8.xx, and hopefully the "feature" can be removed-again at the same time... "I make so many mistakes. But then just think of all the mistakes I don't make, although I might." |
