I have always taken this to be when pre-empted by another BOINC application and understand the mechanism. However, what is the effect of setting this to 'no' when combined with only running one BOINC application (project) and also setting "Do work while computer is in use?" to no.
Does this mean that if the PC starts to be used by a user the whole memory RAM + Virtual is released immediately. I understand that if this is the case some work will be 'lost' and repeated which is acceptable. The reason for this question is that in rare instances it has been proved by my son that BOINC does sometimes screw up his game of Rome, usually with a memory corruption of some sort! |

Does this mean that if the PC starts to be used by a user the whole memory RAM + Virtual is released immediately. Exactly. With this setting, every time an application is suspended (except for running the benchmark) it is unloaded and it will restart at the last checkpoint when allowed to go on. Cheers. Jean. |
