I get very few in any combination simply because the project has been assigned a low weight within multi-project profiles. That combined with HPF2 which has a normal weight assigned by WCG creates a condition where with still short supply, few come through. Most get snapped up by those who've selected to do CEP only as primary. That's correct - deselect HPF2 and you should get workunits for CEP. They are now available. If you aren't getting any work units, try following Warped's suggestion. I modified the profile for one of my computers to grab only CEP, and I've been able to get 22 work units over the last 5 days. Closing in on the silver!! |

Closing in on the silver!! Looks like you'll beat me to the silver, Bergie72. I only just made bronze. To confirm, you also need to deselect the option "If there is no work available for my computer for the projects I have selected above, please send me work from another project". It may mean the odd message about the project not having work, but with a cache of anything more than a few hours, you should not run out of work.

It may mean the odd message about the project not having work, but with a cache of anything more than a few hours, you should not run out of work. If you do this, you won't get any WU when there is no work available which could cause that your computers are not crunching at all when there is no work available for CEP. So normally it's better to leave this option on. If you have selected the CEP project only and the "no work available" option", you will get CEP WU's when there are. Better options are to lower the cached work and the connect to server delay. |

Better options are to lower the cached work Personally, I'd suggest the opposite - to have maybe 2-3 days worth of cache, and then, if all the CEP work runs dry, at least you can continue crunching on that particular project until some more comes into the hopper... I wouldn't suggest more than 5 days worth of work cached, as I've found that some of these WU's can be a bit long, and thus, there may be times when they're getting near to their deadline date/time... |

I even doubt if the the cashed work does matter.
The client keeps a number of days work in it's cache and when it comes below that threshold, it will fetch some work. If on that moment no CEP WU's are available, it will get WU's for other projects. This setting is mainly interesting for those that do not have an internet connection from time to time. So only the connection delay could help a bit in this case I guess |

Harreld,
----------------------------------------What I was attempting to say, was, that with a 5 day cache of CEP work in my buffer, I've managed to 'ride out' all but 1 of the recent CEP WU shortages... Thus, with not having the 'send other work' box selected, BOINC just keeps attempting to get CEP WU's until there's some more available. Obviously, I have been keeping a close eye on things, and when my buffer HAS gotten very low (to the point of being in danger of running out of work), I have topped it up with more HFCC WU's. I'm able to do this, as the only machine I've got available to me to crunch with, is the one I'm using now - an Intel dual core CPU, running Windows XP SP2. If other crunchers have more machines than I (or their machines are not as accessible as perhaps they'd like), then this may not be the 'way to go' for them... |

If you can and will keep an eye on your crunchers, you are right. If you can't or just want to leave it running, it's better to leave the sent other work selected and decrease the connect delay.

I am stuck just short of a gold badge for this project and rarely seen any work for it in months. I even turned off my other projects but still didn't get any CEP work. I turned every project off except CEP and am finally getting some work for it. I am still picking up far more work for other projects though. Is CEP given a lower priority at the server end than the others? |

Hi chavasse,
We are getting work units very slowly from the project. They are doing a number of different things which are keeping them busy, including checking out problems with some work units. Lawrence |

Lawrence I do not seem to have a problem. I have recieved 110 so far today, sent 4/18, at 18:39 UTC. I also have CEP set as my only project. - Mitch |
