Re: Vista Power Save problem

I have the same problem on ThinkPad with WinXP.
Monitor is never turned off, whatever power profile says.
For some reason, PowerManager thinks that system is actively used - not just something running in the background.
The was no problem before. This stopped working about a month or two ago. I've updated PowerManager and BOINC agent too, so I do not know which one to blame - but apparently there is a conflict.

Cheers!

Re: Vista Power Save problem

You should check whether the Thinkpad software is conflicting with the normal XP power saving features.

Try disabling the PowerManager software completely and using the built-in power management.

Re: Vista Power Save problem

Are u using the BOINC screensaver and if so, have you set the box to blank the screen after X minutes (to protect e.g. old CRT displays). Don't know how that interacts with power-saving though. I use the Blank Screensaver. I've found that at times I'd had to resave the settings. No idea why but than I'd have a blank screen, but not powering off, even just a few weeks ago.

Well, this was it (for me). The "blank the screen" box was unchecked, though, same as you, I had had it checked. I was just unlucky in that the "forgetting" coincided my monitor change, which put me down the wrong path.
Thanks all for everyone's advice though. I appreciate it, and I'm glad I can still contribute my cycles to the cause.
