Have one for the main setup [router, docking station, machine running my MagicJack phone] but the budget says no for the rest of the house for months to come. $100 is my weekly food budget at the moment and even that may have to be cut soon. The older crunchers are already going away as I find ways to back up any lingering personal stuff on them and give them new homes.

15 years ago, I committed to use a UPS with every computer. Saved my hide many times. There's nothing like having the lights go out at work, hearing the screams down the hall, while sitting smugly at my desk knowing that I have 5 minutes to save the spreadsheet I have been working on for the last half hour. They are just part of the budget on every computer now. each of my 1200 Watt units covers various equipment; one 1200 Watt will support roughly 12 Cores..depending on peripherals, reasonably comfortably; obviously I coordinate and load them almost to the max!!!! ....I figure the LapTops have their own build in UPS; Power Supply>>> Batteries ....BUT I've fried a couple of Power Supplies during surges ![]() ![]() |

Hoping my travel surge protectors give a little edge to the lappies. Had them awhile and the lights still come on.

I've been watching the Japanese news stream. It's so frustrating to be a world away when I want to help.

Just think of the extra hour of sleep at the other end.

You know in the age of the electric light bulb, and shift work, daylight saving time is not required.
