To those of you who are blasting through this project: I assume that when you see a new project, you set your preferences to only download from that project. Once you get your desired badge, do you set the preferences back? I am wondering because I like to work on all projects, but I have not received any WU's for this one. I think that it would be courteous to let everyone get a shot at them without having a few systems hog them all.
Just a thought. |

beat me500,
----------------------------------------Those who set a project exclusively are the ones finding the bugs and a few get up in arms then ;-) Sort of a tough post beta test with RC1 signature. A volunteers choice. WCG likes to start slow on any new project, so yes, those that have a "all projects" type profile will get few as most gets swept up before it reaches the general pool. Things is, it wanes and the general pool will get sufficient and will grow. Since the project is planned to last 2 years, time enough. And expect it to grow. The press releases have only been out just now, plus, the results, 110,000+ so far show great stability, which is good when the instream arrives, hopefully in droves. cheers. edit: it was more completed results :D

I think that it would be courteous to let everyone get a shot at them without having a few systems hog them all. Just a thought. When I saw this project I "dedicated" two computers to it exclusively (except that they may still receive Betas). One of the "dedicated" computers is a Core 2 Quad machine and the other is a P4. My two other quads remain running a "mixed bag". There are probably (very likely) people doing as you think, but I plan on leaving mine as they are. If the HFCC work units get too large (i.e. long run times) I'll shut down the old slow P4 (again) to save some money on my electric bill. If you want any HFCC work units at this stage of the game just uncheck all the other projects and after some HFCC work units are downloaded to your computer(s), re-check the other projects. Once the people that are after a bunch of badges get them you shouldn't have to do that kind of stuff as they'll go back to running other projects in addition to HFCC. ![]() |

Once you get your desired badge, do you set the preferences back? Rice has been my focus, due to its scheduled completion this summer, but I took a short break to get HFCC going. I want to finish my goal for NRW so I have to shelve HFCC for a while before I get back to it in a few months. But I will be back to it to get my next goal for HFCC. ![]() |
