HPF Phase 2 vs rosetta@home

I'm allocating my processor times for my BOINC projects. And I am wondering what the overlap is between this project and rosetta@home. How are they similar and different?

Re: HPF Phase 2 vs rosetta@home

Hello sbergman27,
You can search for WCG on the Rosetta@Home message board. Here is a good start over at the Bonneau Lab: http://homepages.nyu.edu/~rb133/wcg/rbonneau_posts.html
HPF2 is using a version of Rosetta that is several years old to fold proteins for a large number of species. This is basic science. The resulting database can be used to try to identify the biological cycles that use the proteins. Evolution has changed the proteins in each species, but the cycles are conservative. For example, if one species uses 14 proteins in a biological process, then a similar species will probably use 14 similar proteins in an analogous process.
