Re: .

Morning everyone.
The Chancellor didn't do a lot for pensioners did he? No doubt spent most of it abroad helping others fund their wars.

Re: .

Evening all

Another lovely sunny and warm day here so, after doing some shopping this morning, I did spend some time in the garden and got the mower out for the first time. Still plenty more to do but it is looking much better.

Got the notification of the coming year's State pension which also tells me I can look forward to an additional 25p week when I reach my 80th. Now there's generosity for you!

Re: .

25p eh? 2/3rds of the cost of a second class stamp from 1st April when it goes up to 36p
and if in a mad foolish Moment you opt for 1st class its going to be 46p.
This just wipes out Any little perks from the Budget

Re: .

Ivan, Take care not to make any major plans for that 25p, there was a time when you could get 5 lots of fish and chips for it and still have change, but now you can't get a bag of crisps! (Yes when I was a lad fish and chips cost 10 pence (about 4p) Now I am told it cost nearer 500p.
I remember my 16th birthday when my father gave me a pound note. I and four friends went out for a meal and I had some change!
My first WEEKS wages was £2 10s (£2.50p) So I joined the Navy for 8 Shillings a Day, ( £2 a week) with free board and lodgings, and I got to see the world for free!
I laughed out loud, I'm sad to say, when the Chancellor announced the planned changes to the pensions, adding "This of course does not apply to existing pensioners" (Obviously we are not expected to "Exist" much longer!

Re: .

Ok guys, who can tell me what the difference is between a 'master' cruncher and a 'veteran' cruncher? Is the master younger than the veteran, and if so how do 'they' know?? And how come I am not a 'mistress' cruncher? smile wink
