Morning everyone, all this talk of the goons, and ninja's, reminds me of a much better time of life, when the radio (Wireless) had really good programmes. I remember listening to the goons many many moons ago, and Around the Horn, Heck, I even go back as far as "ITMA" with dear old Tommy Handley (can i do yer now sir?) Remember "Dick Barton Special Agent? and "Journey into space"? Then some idiot invented the television, so now we get rubbish like "Big brother" (a bunch of hasbeens or wannabees acting like idiots- and no doubt earning a fortune!) Quiz programmes by the bucketful, programmes about car boot sales, and house decoration and cookery. What ever happened to real entertainment with moderate language? Guess I am getting old eh? ![]() Still on the wireless Ted, Journey into space with Jet And Lemmy Andrew Faulds and Alfie Bass "Radio 7" Dick Barton Special agent Jock And Snowy helping him out and the introductory music stirred the blood....... When it was taken off the wireless it was replaced by The archers ![]() Morning all BTW |

( Sorry, JP ;) )
Yes, the way through is to punch through the technology and get DAB / internet radio and listen to BBC7 on repeat and only bother tuning back to radio 4 for the 6:30 comedy. I'm afraid I'm a bit of a fraud in that I don't remember any of these "classic comedy" (being a wee born baby), but BBC7 I'm also not a descendant of Allan Smethurst, I'm from ... elsewhere... - interestingly Norwich doesn't really have such a strong Norfolk accent - but woe betide you should you step foot outside the safe zone ... ooh..., you better beware! |
