If you ever want to reinstall an older BOINC version, you can try to install over your current version. It might work but is not guaranteed. What is guaranteed is to set BOINC to 'Accept no new work' and finish the current work, then Update to send the final report to the Scheduler, then uninstall BOINC and only then install the new BOINC version. A lot of trouble. I would start by trying a simple reinstall and see what happens. Downgrading by just installing an older BOINC-client is defintely not recommended, not sure if the v6-installer has become more intelligent, but installers very often won't replace a newer file, so to really downgrade you'll often need to run a repair afterwards... Much easier is to uninstall current version, and install older version. It's normally not needed to finishing-up current work, but as an extra safety you can of course do it. As for "v6.4.5 not supported", for anyone running other projects on a CUDA-capable card, they can't run v6.2.28, but they can still choose to also support WCG. It's therefore in WCG's best interest to still support these users, since otherwise it's a good chance they'll just ditch WCG. Even if don't use CUDA, v6.4.5 is still the current official BOINC-client, and is the natural choise for anyone running multiple projects. ![]() "I make so many mistakes. But then just think of all the mistakes I don't make, although I might." |
