WU: E000367_009A_00282o00j
My machine spent 60.62 hours (claimed 242.0 credits) and exited with no errors, but has been marked Invalid. Two other machines spent under 2 hours each (claimed about 30 credits) and are marked as Valid. This seems strange. I've not seen, or seen mention of, any CEP WUs which validly complete in such a short time and are only worth 30 credits. There are, however, plenty of reports of WUs finishing early and incorrectly. Could someone check this out? |

The techs don't normally investigate individual reports.

CEP WUs currently average 178 credits (1,246.23 WCG points) and 13:47:29 runtime. Either there is such huge variation that a 30-credit, sub-2-hour WU could exist (can anyone confirm this one way or the other?) or there may be some WUs feeding back rubbish results to the scientists while ignoring possibly correct results. I'd have thought that might be worth investigating.

... any CEP WUs which validly complete in such a short time and are only worth 30 credits. There are, however, plenty of reports of WUs finishing early and incorrectly ... marked as valid (from our perspective)! Which is exactly the vexing problem. Both the valid we know with great certainty stopped early at precisely the same point which made them bit for bit equal. How much credit did you get? I've had 2 invalid and both got 100% of claim awarded, which is seemingly the interim (yes we care) treatment, so at least time/credit feelings, if at all, are not hurt. And on seeming wasted time and electricity. Hopefully the result log entry of "failed..." can be translated to a marker that the validator can consider to identify these results as invalid, but the invalid are of use to the scientists to fish from a larger population why a particular molecule goes off. Those will be reprocessed at some time when the solution can be coded in. The rate I get of none-clean result logs is now about < 15%. Means 85% is good to go to feed into the CEP2 phase.

The techs are already aware of these issues.

I observerd the same strange thing over here:
https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/devi...us.do?workunitId=53492495 Even it looks like im the one returning a good result, im getting marked "invalid" (it has been "inconclusive" throughout the day). Whats going on there? Any solution in sight? I really like the projects goal but errors like these dont look good at all. |
