I just had a rice work unit that was processed and completed on my machine in less than 24 hours. It is currently marked as too late.

I just had a rice work unit that was processed and completed on my machine in less than 24 hours. It is currently marked as too late. Yeah - I had something similar a few days ago. I got 2 rice WUs downloaded at the same time to the same PC and both showed as "Too Late" so I assume that they were from the same batch. The PC in question runs for 18 hours a day and I only keep a half-day buffer, so they should have gone through within 24 hours based on my maths (10-hour WU with up to 6 hour buffer and potentially up to 6 hours of non-crunching time = 22 hours) Anyway, unfortunately I can't show which batch or WU it was as it happened a few days ago and it's now dropped off the bottom of my results page. When I clicked on the WU details at the time, it showed about 3/4 of the replication as "Too Late", with the other 1/4 showing "In Progress". I just assumed that it was a glitch in the WU rather than something with the PC is and "chalked it down to experience". I'm running mostly rice at the moment and check my results status regularly. I can't say that I've seen this problem occur again since, so it's hopefully a one-off. If it happens again - I'll note the details and post it here. I know that doesn't help you, Nickers, but it might help assure you that it's probably not your problem? |

If a rush 10 hour RICE job has a 24 hour deadline and you return it say in 33 hours even, it should not be marked Too Late. Properly, the Too Late should get marked as such if the subsequent copy is returned quicker than the "no reply" copy.
----------------------------------------Occasionally, "too late" items have gone through the revalidation and got points awarded. Unless on the ball watching the Result Status pages, it's easy to miss particular when results were moved through the assimilator into the master database i.e. got removed from the RS page. The only way to help judge that is to click on the work unit name, if still listed on the result status page, and copy / paste the whole distribution detail here to the forum.

I am pretty sure this is the WU in question. The status now has changed to Valid
R00253_6562d58a7d150adde7e2967b5f7761c5_01_002 When I saw this problem several of the other machines that returned this work unit were also marked as too late. Now they are marked as valid. |

One returned as late on as 02.58 this morning (UTC) and was valid. Mine was the one returned at 09.38 am, and shows as Too Late, along with one other. Many of them are also showing as "Error". I guess it's showing at over 24 hours from start to end on my task due to the fact that the machine doesn't report completion until it downloads another task, which puts pay to my previous attempt as maths.
