Once upon a time lawrencehardin had figured out how to use google to search in a more refined way, but when I try I get only the statistics part, not any hits on the forum.

That's because if you check out the robots.txt file for wcg you'll see someone has requested the forums aren't indexed by search engine spiders. Probably because of the load all those robots generate on a set of forums with as many pages to go through as WCG has.
So not only is the built in search function pretty poor, but you can't use an external search engine either. ![]() |

It's a good way to not draw attention from the spammers and am perfectly fine with that.
----------------------------------------The search is not as bad as it's made out to be, particular if using the (advanced) search link middle top and the quotation marks to find specific word combinations or error messages, then look at the date stamp at right side. The trouble is that a found post in a long thread does not jump to the correct page when hitting the resulting link.

I used Google to search the Unofficial BOINC Wiki. It was much better than the built-in wiki search.

Pity... I looked for your post where you discussed this in a reply to me 1.5-2 years ago, to no avail. It was the wiki search, not forum search.
