Hello , I am new on this Forum (member since 2005) , and ask your kind help :
I have always activate WCG manually (not on Windows startup) using "C:\Program files\BOINC\boincmgr.exe" /a /s (took from an entry generated in the install) . From about 15 days the above does not work, it seems the Manager starts and exits immediately. So I am starting manually the programs : -- boinctray.exe (but it does not appear in systray) , and -- boinc.exe (it opens a DOS window , and seems to work properly -- tasks are processed and reported on my WCG site profile -- , and to stop the application I just close this window) . I am tempted to re-install , but I have some long "HPF2-new model" tasks partially completed , and am not sure if re-installing over the old one all this work will be lost . Thank you in advance for any suggestions . |

Didactylos , thanks for your reply .
Below are the first and the last lines from stderrgui.txt , and they repeat almost identically in the middle (I may post here if you want) . The Modification date for this file is 2009-02-02 , seven hours before the Last Result Returned showed in my stats . However , the popup detailed information for the 2 tasks being executed now , shows partial returns in subsequent days . ================= Below the initial lines in the file : Skin Manager: Exit message was not defined. Thank you, JRF999.
There are no errors shown there, so I need to ask some further questions: 1. What operating system do you use? 2. What version of BOINC do you have? 3. Did you install BOINC as a service? 4. What security software do you use? |

Well , I think I solved my problem without loosing the current work .
----------------------------------------I have found the standard WCG Setup allows to Install / Repair / Uninstall . The Repair did not fixed the problem , but the UNinstallation copied all the Application Data to the Program Area , so after UNinstalling , a new Installation restored all interrupted processes , as well as the current tasks data .
