Hi DA,
----------------------------------------Interestingly you posted the same error in the HFP2 forum which science has not changed since Sept.16, 2008. http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=24475 The error I found in a number of places amongst http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/forum_thread.php?id=3481. Ubuntu is noted. Hah, the BFS has an item on it: http://boincfaq.mundayweb.com/index.php?view=238 After further delving, I'd wide circle 6.4.5, wide.

I've had 6.4.5 for as long as Berkley have listed it as "recommended" and until now HPF2 was the only project it's had troubles with. Mostly I don't run that project but in getting set up for CEP I had the 'I want x but I'll take whatever if it's not available' setting checked.
----------------------------------------Also, all my machines are running 6.4.5, both 32 and 64bit, but this is the only one giving me any grief. Like I said, it's getting a solid scouring with memtest tonight and if I get nothing there but start getting more errors when it comes back online, I'll be running hard disk diagnostics as well. I also had a bunch of power glitches and some VERY hot weather here lately, so if it turns out to be a one off then all well and good. ![]() Currently being moderated under false pretences |

(Strongly) recommending you ditch the 6.4.5 version you say you downloaded at the time.

In my (limited) experience, I've never found any errors using memtest, unless the machine is extremely unstable. I suggest you try Prime95. Do runs with each of "Small FFTs", "Inplace", and "Blend". A few runs of Super_PI may also throw up an error. The ultimate test seems to be "Intel Burn Test" (IBT) which uses software from a package called Linpack. All of these run under Windoze, however.
Prime95 and IBT will raise your CPU temps much higher than WCG. Most WCG projects seem OK if you are Prime95-stable, but CEP may require you to pass IBT as well. Hope you aren't in Vic, or if you are that you & yours are OK. 47 - 48 deg C is not the kind of weather to run Prime95 or IBT! |

Nah I'm in Central West NSW.
----------------------------------------All my machines get a run with a utility called "BurnCPU" which I can assure you is savage, but I'll look into Linpack just the same. ![]() Currently being moderated under false pretences |

Go to PrimeGrid and run a day or so of "LLr" work. If you can run them, you can run anything. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Feb 8, 2009 2:02:03 PM] |
