Greetings all. Question for you, how do you promote your team in order to increase your team membership? I belong to a WCG team that has 60 members 36 of whom are still active. I would like to make others aware of our team's efforts and invite them to join the WCG project and become a team member but I don't want to appear to be some sort of spammer. Our team captain has opted out of receiving email so I have no way of contacting him or any of our team members. Any ideas or successes you may have had in attractiing people to the WCG in general and your team in particular would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

taggart, does your Team have a home page/website? We do (like most Teams). If not, start a thread at

J. Cool,
Great idea. We don't have a web page yet but I did create a Facebook group for the team if I can ever get in touch with the team members and I plan to register the team name as a .org domain name. Thanks much. taggart, does your Team have a home page/website? We do (like most Teams). If not, start a thread at http://forum.thedczone.com/ It's free and some Teams have recuiting threads there. Hi, taggart.
If your team captain is inactive, and not promoting your team, then there is a process for replacing them. See http://wcg.wikia.com/wiki/Missing_captain Note that if your captain wants to remain captain, active or not, then WCG won't change that. But this is still a good way of revitalising a stagnant team, and is the only way of contacting a captain who opted not to receive team emails. As for promotion: that's an eternal challenge. My advice is to never give up, but to expect only a fraction of the people you tell to actually sign up. And by "fraction", I mean small - maybe one in five for people you talk to personally, and one in a thousand for people you contact less directly. |
