Re: WEATHER WEATHER WEATHER WEATHER

This has been the year without a Winter here.
All winter it has seemed like Springtime and now in the Spring it already seems like Summer...
Already it is getting like 80°+ F (27 ° C)
Much too hot for me and it's sure to get much worse in the months to come.
I think I will soon have to temporarily retire my Laptop from crunching for the summer , and maybe even the desktop cruncher... sad
Did everyone have such an unusually warm winter ? Or is it just me ?

Re: WEATHER WEATHER WEATHER WEATHER

We had record December and January high temps in central Italy, February saw hundred year snow piling with extensive damage to our olive trees [North Americans from around the Great Lakes know what Lake Snow is... not frozen over large water bodies, more vapor meeting cold airflows from the north, in our case Balkans and Siberia and a too warm Adriatic], but by Feb. 23 first trees were blossoming again. March has been too warm again... The phenomena got a name, and according to Inhofe in The Rachel Maddows show it's true but as he said"... I thought it must be true until I found what it cost". Say no more, the weather is great today, the price will be presented in June-September... a El Nino is building over the Pacific after 2 years of mostly [deep] La Nina states.

Re: WEATHER WEATHER WEATHER WEATHER

This has definitely been the weirdest weather I have seen in my life (>45). Especially the month of march. Usually, here in Minnesota, we are preparing for the last big blizzard before spring. Now it's warm enough to walk around in shorts and T-shirt. Unbelievable. Seeing how many and bad the tornados have been so far this year leads me to believe this summer will be very active with super storms. Recommend folks get a weather radio w/alerts to help be alert and stay safe.
Am not recruiting here but do suggest crunchers spare a few threads and crunch climate prediction along side of WCG. Been doing it for years myself. Definitely a worthy cause that can help show our idiot leaders why fixing our climate issues now will benefit everyone for future generations. wink

Not sure how many cores your crunching with but on the desktop, just reduce the number of cores to help control your heat. Just to hot for a laptop in the summer. I'll be moving my cruncher to the basement to keep it cool when the heat picks up. But, better to retire than melt one down. wink

Re: WEATHER WEATHER WEATHER WEATHER

@Annie Kienes, you guys ok over there in Des Moines? It looks as if the storms moving across western and central Iowa are pretty nasty.

I'm shutting down the crunching machines here to your east, and am ready to move people and dogs to the basement if necessary.

Re: WEATHER WEATHER WEATHER WEATHER

Not much talk about the weather in the weather thread, but we are sighing and heaving under 41C (106F) here in central Italy... it's monetarily, 7:30PM 35C... no wind at all. Washington DC saw millions without power and big forestal fires hitting at the same time... and other places:

Yes, don't put your foollies on and make sure to drink at least 2 liters. Grab the skin on your hand and pull it up, if it takes longer to return flush, then it's already overdue... you're having dehydration symptoms.

Take care and stay in the shade.
