I have to say, it's hard for people to be climate deniers during a heatwave. Illogical, yes. It's just weather, and even though global warming will make heatwaves more frequent and more severe, a heatwave doesn't prove global warming.
Deniers can feel smug and complacent during the winter, but during a heatwave, all the excuses are exposed and shrivel up under the burning sun. The Australian heatwave caused 374 excess deaths. The eastern half of the US has seen 1290 new temperature records over the last week. The UK met office forecast a heatwave in the UK over the coming week. Toasty. |
