The nearest glacier to me, the most Southern of Europe, the Calderone, has long retired from being one. Last I saw it up close in June 2006 it was but a shade, calculated to be just 30,000 square meters left. Tomorrow the forecast is 16C, Real feel 16C. at 41 North. Winter never arrived here.

good for you and i just had an omd... finally after all these years, my region made it into the Rutgers daily snow anomalies report... because the prevailing wind due the Arctic vortex break up pushed Siberian winds and Mediterranean humidity against the mountains and hills. Sadly, 3/4s was gone by dawn, so tomorrow we will be seeing the normal again.
----------------------------------------One thing this was good for. We were set to find out which roofs on new houses would loose the snow quickest as a sign of the quality of insulation. All local building constructors can consider themselves as fired.  added: oops, the nearest weather report.
