It's cooled off here quite a bit. But it looks like July is going to go down as one of the hotter months on record. The warmest month since August of 1983, and the

Nope, I've been getting my data from here:http://weather.noaa.gov/weather/current/KDSM.html
I wouldn't mind setting one up, but doing so might violate some HOA rules. |

AnnieKenes, just thinking it was a way of highlighting that whilst we seem to only remember the interannual, there was a notable change in just 3 decadal means. Whilst the Brits are stiff upper lip enduring their terrible winter and summer, over in Tuktoyaktuk, Northern Territories, Canada, up close to the Arctic ocean, they recored 23C and sunbathing:

Last week France and Germany in amongst had their Black Saturday, holiday road traffic packing, today we have our Bollino Nero , The 2011 Summer Exodus, and that's a serious matter culminating in the near total shutdown of the nation on Ferragosto, August 15. No shortage of the appropriate weather, through the end of the month is foretold.

Anyone from the Austin vicinity here? Saw a note today to say that you're going for the full 30 days consecutive over 100F, a ''normal'' annual occurrence of a dozen of these days. As he commented "As I saw somewhere today "100 (38C) is the new 90"."
![]() The heat is not only in Texas... 24.7C was recorded on the Arctic Ocean coast near an airstrip, in a settlement called Ukatutoh as it sounded on weather radio. ![]() Whilst, we don't have extreme heat in bella central Italy, but no rain either... clouds pass and vaporize by 10AM, then return in the evening to keep the nights uncomfortably blanketing warm and humid... not good for sleeping well. Today: Tuesday Clouds and sunshine RealFeel®: 94°F High Temperature: 81°F Low Temperature: 58°F Details | Hour-By-Hour Tomorrow and the days after... same same. A dopo --//-- |

As he commented "As I saw somewhere today "100 (38C) is the new 90"." I live near Austin. The record high temperatures haven’t been a huge problem. Dallas is having a much worse time of it than we are with heat related deaths. The main problem here is the lack of rain. The weather station closest to me has recorded only 10.29 inches in the last 365 days, when the normal is 34-38 inches. The affect on the agricultural industry, wildlife, trees, water supplies etc. has been disastrous. |
