Re: WEATHER WEATHER WEATHER WEATHER

It's cooled off here quite a bit. But it looks like July is going to go down as one of the hotter months on record. The warmest month since August of 1983, and the warmest hottest July since 1955.

I've heard off and on that they were going to revise what is considered "normal". I do think it's a bit funny that the article talks about not being distracted by a burst of arctic air, and then uses the 70-79 image to compare against the 2000-2009 image.

2011.08.04 1754 UTC
Wind from the ENE (060 degrees) at 12 MPH (10 KT)
Visibility 10 mile(s)
Sky conditions overcast
Weather Towering cumulus clouds observed
Precipitation last hour A trace

Dew Point 71.1 F (21.7 C)
Relative Humidity 76%

<Slightly Off Topic:
Do you have your own weather station, AnnieKenes?

Re: WEATHER WEATHER WEATHER WEATHER

Nope, I've been getting my data from here:http://weather.noaa.gov/weather/current/KDSM.html

I wouldn't mind setting one up, but doing so might violate some HOA rules.

AnnieKenes, just thinking it was a way of highlighting that whilst we seem to only remember the interannual, there was a notable change in just 3 decadal means.

As for me weather... on and on and on it goes

Friday Mostly sunny with a stray shower
RealFeel®: 38°C
High Temperature: 29°C
Low Temperature: 17°C

Saturday Partly sunny with a couple of showers
RealFeel®: 32°C
High Temperature: 28°C
Low Temperature: 18°C

Sunday Nice with plenty of sun
RealFeel®: 34°C
High Temperature: 29°C
Low Temperature: 17°C

Don't know why they predict rain at all... they're wrong 9 out of 10 times... from calls across the mountain, none is falling there either. sad ... nothing on the popes state and summer residence either at (Castel Gandolfo)

Re: WEATHER WEATHER WEATHER WEATHER

Whilst the Brits are stiff upper lip enduring their terrible winter and summer, over in Tuktoyaktuk, Northern Territories, Canada, up close to the Arctic ocean, they recored 23C and sunbathing:

Can it get any crazier?

P.S. Google Earth... there seems to be some sort of oil-terminal nearby.

Re: WEATHER WEATHER WEATHER WEATHER

Last week France and Germany in amongst had their Black Saturday, holiday road traffic packing, today we have our Bollino Nero , The 2011 Summer Exodus, and that's a serious matter culminating in the near total shutdown of the nation on Ferragosto, August 15. No shortage of the appropriate weather, through the end of the month is foretold.

Yesterday I wondered why they bothered forecasting rain... and they heard me... any cloud there is just vaporizes by 10AM.

RealFeel®: 36°C (97F)
High Temperature: 29°C (84F)
Low Temperature: 18°C (65F)
Winds NE 17 km/h
Relative Humidity 57%
Dew Point 20°C
Barometric Pressure 1011 mb
Pressure Tendency Steady
Visibility 16 km
Sunrise 6:00 AM
Sunset 8:17 PM

Even the cat sat back:

Re: WEATHER WEATHER WEATHER WEATHER

Anyone from the Austin vicinity here? Saw a note today to say that you're going for the full 30 days consecutive over 100F, a ''normal'' annual occurrence of a dozen of these days. As he commented "As I saw somewhere today "100 (38C) is the new 90"."

The heat is not only in Texas... 24.7C was recorded on the Arctic Ocean coast near an airstrip, in a settlement called Ukatutoh as it sounded on weather radio.

Whilst, we don't have extreme heat in bella central Italy, but no rain either... clouds pass and vaporize by 10AM, then return in the evening to keep the nights uncomfortably blanketing warm and humid... not good for sleeping well. Today:

Tuesday Clouds and sunshine
RealFeel®: 94°F
High Temperature: 81°F
Low Temperature: 58°F
Details | Hour-By-Hour

Tomorrow and the days after... same same.

A dopo

I live near Austin. The record high temperatures haven’t been a huge problem. Dallas is having a much worse time of it than we are with heat related deaths. The main problem here is the lack of rain. The weather station closest to me has recorded only 10.29 inches in the last 365 days, when the normal is 34-38 inches. The affect on the agricultural industry, wildlife, trees, water supplies etc. has been disastrous.
