I have an Intel P4 3.0GHz, and in the Device Information box, the Comparison Device is a P4 1.5GHz, which has the "100" in the box next to it, but how come my P4 3.0GHz also only has "100" in the box? Shouldn't it be something like "200"?
I mention this because I'm running WCG as I type this and yet my CPU usage hovers around 50%. |

Yeah... it's a bit whack
I have a 2.8 GHZ P4 and it says 100 also... just ignore it On the other hand, the overall rating is very informative. I have a 137 compared with a "high end system" at 100. Very cool, glad to take part. |

Athlon 3200+ Newcastle, and I get the same thing. It ain't you =) I have the same thing with the 137 despite 1gb ram - i have the feeling that "rating" system isn't very robust at this point. But who's counting?

Same here, I've got a couple of dual xeon boxes (3.06's@800fsb and 2.8's@533fsb 2.4's@533fsb and 1.26's@100fsb) and they don't rate much higher than the high end system. Haven't tried my new athlon 64 3500 desktop though yet...
Also, I notice that it is not really multithreaded, nor does it take any advantage of hyperthreading. Too bad... |

I think the Comparison Device is a fictional computer the program is comparing yours with to give you the rating, something like a benchmark
score. |

Their grid agent does the same thing. However, the 50% CPU utilization is easy to explain. You have hyperthreading enabled and it tricks Windows into thinking you have two processors. We only use one at full capacity (even on a true SMP machine) so thus you'll see your CPU utilization is at 50% for Intel chips with hyperthreading enabled. - Rick Alther

This will change as you complete more work units. After 2 work units it rates my system at 194.

Correct! This value will be calculated the first time you've finished a workunit.

I use 10 identicals PC, just clone. Same components, same configuration (2600+, 512mb ram, 80go hd etc).
CPU rating is diff for each pc :) 100 to 149. I have 150 with another PC (3200+, 1gb ram). |
