inconclusive WUs

Often in the last period, some WUs are quoted as "inconclusive" and I feel like my CPU was working for nothing.
No reason is indicated on the site.
Does somebody knows something about this problem ?

Re: inconclusive WUs

"Inconclusive" is not an error. It is normal.

After a while the task status should change to "Valid". If it changes to "Invalid" instead, then you should ask for further help.

Thanks for the answer.

The WU E000269_468A_001k2c002 has been declared "invalid" after having been "inconclusive". I could see that it took on my computer half the average time used by the others on the same WU...

Is the problem on my computer ?

As a matter of fact, the WUs of Clean energy project are always long to be validated...

Re: inconclusive WUs

Hello Legrandpiou,
Is the problem on my computer ?

Hard to say. If the calculations on a molecule start to diverge instead of converging to a solution, then the CEP program will exit with an error. This happens on a number of molecules, but is supposed to happen on all the copies of that work unit. If the other computers ran at the same speed as your computer and took twice as long to produce a Valid result, then I would guess that a computational error on your machine produced an error only half way through. However, your computer may be twice as fast as the other computers, so nothing is proven.

What sort of system are you running?

How often does it produce Invalid results for a work unit for which other computers produce Valid results.

Lawrence

Possibly, but possibly not. The Clean Energy Project has had a few problems, including occasional invalid tasks.

Continue to keep an eye on things, and we will investigate further if needed.

Thank you for taking an interest!
