I see. Thanks for clarifying that, hunterkasy. We don't recommend BOINC 6.4.5, but hopefully it won't do any harm.
dermaptera, you should then be able to reset the project normally, using the button in the Projects tab of BOINC Manager. You will still lose any unreported work. |

so, pretty much what I get out of all of this, if you have any problems, check the forum to make sure "their side" is up or down, for anything else you have to reset your agent or uninstall it and re-stall it. and lose all of the WU's that could not be uploaded

Problems like this are very rare. From looking at your log, your problem can be correlated to a 20 minute period when the WCG servers weren't working properly, on January 25. http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=24277
----------------------------------------edit: I should add that nearly all up or download problems will correct themselves automatically. BOINC simply retries. I still don't know the precise cause of the problem behind this thread - I can only speculate that you received some corrupt work units. So.... we were completely wrong. It happens. Given the recent server changes and associated server glitches, we were too quick to see a link.
Let's take a fresh look, and I will ask some questions that got overlooked: Do you use a proxy server? Under normal WCG operation, the upload error is nearly always caused by a proxy problem. See the help pages: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=proxy (Note that some of the advice is aimed at an earlier BOINC version. 6.2.28 doesn't need <force_auth>.) A short while ago, you reported something about IPs that I didn't quite follow. secure.worldcommunitygrid.org should resolve to 198.20.8.246. If it doesn't, then either it is indeed a proxy problem, or you have some kind of DNS problem. Even if you don't use a proxy server, some security software will set up a transparent proxy that you don't know about, in order to audit all the data being passed across the network. What security software do you use? Include security suites, firewalls, anti-virus and parental control software. Thank you - you have been extraordinarily patient. |

I tried pinging 198.20.8.246 but it was unreachable, so just to make sure I didn't have ping disabled, I tried pinging www.google.com, and it was able to reply. Everything that I have loaded in the task bar is: truecrypt, daemon pro, world community grid, peer guardian, iolo anti virus, (from system mechanic pro), u torrent. I use the windows xp firewall, and I do have WCG in the exceptions. I have tried the WCG communications with peer guardian and the anti virus and firewall disabled but still didn't work, I get my internet through Arvig communication, the modem runs through my smoothwall firewall, then through my hub then out to my computers, I have had everything the same for over a month nothing new on any pc. and I don't use a proxy.

World Community Grid have ICMP blocked, so ping won't work. So that doesn't tell us anything.
Sadly, merely disabling security software doesn't (usually) stop them at all. We have seen this on several occasions. If they were easy to disable, viruses would just turn them off. The Windows firewall shouldn't be a problem - nobody else has problems with it, and WCG never accepts communications from outside - all communications are initiated by the client. iolo is a new one to me. We have never seen it reported here before. Peer guardian is also capable of causing the problem you have. Check the block list for 198.20.8.246 and 198.20.8.241 The next step in troubleshooting is to turn on some debugging flags, as explained here: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=proxy Use this file: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/cc_config.xml |

Oh, and flush the cache on your DNS proxy. Thanks.
