Hi All,
How come my average crunching time is shown as 19h 41m per day when I leave the computer running 24/7 ? I didn't expect it to show 24hper day, but 19h 41m seems a bit low! regards pete. |

It's your all-time average, since you registered to WCG.
----------------------------------------Possible reasons for the difference are - you have not taken this decision (24/7) on your registration day but some time later - you have had some vacation days during which you switched off - you had too many WUs in error sometimes (only crediting WUs are accumulating runtime) - you run an OS which counts CPU time more seriously than Windows (I don't know about Linux and Mac) and the CPU time of your personal activity must be deducted - etc... Cheers. Jean. |

Pete,
Another possiblilty - look at the Advanced Menu, Preferences, Processor Tab. There is a setting for "Use at most n% CPU time". Lower numbers cause less stress to your CPU, but also mean you are not processing as much as you might think each day. Stephen |

Options and Preferences are the same. If you change Options, the BOINC Messages tab will have a line about local preferences.
----------------------------------------Sigh. . . . Lawrence Added: Oops. Wrong. You select Options and thewn select Preferences. I remembered it wrong. Just click on Options and all will be clear. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jan 28, 2009 2:02:37 AM] |

Petekins,
----------------------------------------Which version of Boinc are you using? In the Advanced menu of mine (6.2.28) I see Options, Preferences, Select computer, etc... Cheers. Jean. |

OK. Preferences has been added to the Advanced menu later.
----------------------------------------That might be a good opportunity to upgrade to version 6.2.28 and install it as a service to make sure that Boinc runs as often as possible in your machine. Cheers. Jean. |
