Re: Exceeded CPU time limit

This is probably caused by the "Stuck WU" problem.

I've had 3 or 4 of them, it happens on different OSs and different CPUs.

If you really want to run HPF2 and you don't want to waste a lot of CPU time, you have check on it periodically.

The symptoms are:-
1. %completion does not increase
2. CPU time does increase

If you see one of these WUs, you need to restart the BOINC core client, this usually shakes it loose.
There are various ways of doing this depending on your method of installation and operating system.
I run it as a sevice under Windows, so I can restart using Control Panel->Admin Tools->Services->BOINC Faq here

If you don't watch then they eventually exceed CPU time and error out.

Hope this helps.

Pete

Re: Exceeded CPU time limit

I agree with petehardy.

The 'stuck HPF2 work unit' is an unusual bug that we have never been able to replicate and track down. It occurred on my computer once back in ?2007?

Re: Exceeded CPU time limit

Thanks!

Guess I'll just have to make it a "daily" check. However it makes it hard to leave home for any number of days. I'll have to make sure I am running a project that don't have that problem.
