Well done all for hitting some great targets!
I hit my own small target again. I'm now in the top ten in Hong Kong! (To be honest this is a reflection on how few people contribute from my town not on how successful I am) Come and join the international team. |

CompuDude. Too bad about the scale-back. Not to worry though, it will take the rest of us a very long time to catch up. Like any gift, it is the thought that counts. Everyone values your contirbution regarless of its magnitude.

Update: I have arranged things so that depending on our render schedule, I can sometimes re-launch the WCG client on the renderfarm to at least run overnight, and perhaps on weekends. Just not during the day, at this point.
I think that when combined with the additional workstations I was able to pull in (which should run 24/7, with only two exceptions) I might be able to keep somewhat near the levels I was bringing in before. Sometimes they will be lower (if they run a large render overnight, I can't run the client that night, and ditto for weekends), but other times, when the artists are busy building and not rendering (or on vacation!), I will be able to run it longer, even during the day at times, and then actually hit a higher score than before, due to the extra workstations I added. So I expect things will be very uneven, and *probably* a bit lower overall than my previous levels, but I'm hoping it won't be *too* far off from before. That said, regardless of the state of the renderfarm, If TribalWar continues on their current path, I still expect they'll overtake our team's overall score. Which I'm totally fine with... remember that it's all for a good cause, and honestly, aside from a few obviously deranged and immature examples, they seem like a fun bunch, and I'm glad to have their computing power added to the WCG. Perhaps that's just my own twisted sense of humor talking. -CD |

OK team this time it's personal. We need to get out there and spread the word. We have relied on Graham as our only PR man and he's done a great job. But now it's up to all team members to drag them kicking and screaming to crunch with the MOT gang. As jasnyder has said we need to get Blogging, posting in newsgroups, badgering Tom's Hardware, New Scientist et al to post what progress is being made here on the WCG. Any way we can get the message out lets take it. Here's another delightful perl of wisdom from one of my TribalWar Friends --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello Dave, it's nice to see you're backing down before we even got into our groove. You formed MyOnlineTeam (which seriously IS a very gay name) with the sole purpose of trying to be as far up on the WCG ladder as you could. You knew that your 5 measely machines could never get you anywhere near the top of the individual ladder. So you decided to form a team of RANDOM people under the name MYonlineteam, not OURonlineteam. No, this team is yours. hahahaha And to see you write some bullshit about "helping the mankind"! ooooh, yea right, baby! ;) We know BS you're after, you egocentric, parents'-basement-dwelling, once-a-month showering, FAT fraud. We hope you do not harm yourself or others when seeing TW pass you on the WCG team ladder, leaving nothing but a stinky fart trail behind. Sayonara. Sincerely, TribalWar veteran, --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TribalWar have pitched this as Good v Evil battle. And they have cast us as Good (At least they have got that bit right )And as you all know Good will triumph in the end. Night Dave . . . Whoa! That one WAS harsh! I didn't write that one. :-P Poor form . . . [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jun 21, 2005 11:51:31 AM] |

Hi mr_luc
----------------------------------------Have you seen what you have created. You stirred this foul bile up on your forum and picked us as your hate figures. Thankyou very much. This group of people who have become my friends don't deserve this kind of treatment. Everyone on My Online Team (when you join it becomes "My" Online Team) contributes to the WCG out of the good of their hearts in the hope that Mankinds lot may be improved as a consequence and a great deal of pain and suffering put behind us. This group of people are the friendliest and most supporting group on the World Community Grid and we have fought to make the forums a good place to be on your behalf. A great deal has been achieved by this group over and above simply adding their computers to the pile and yet our number crunching contribution to the grid is not to be sniffed at. Now if you don't mind could you just let us get on with our task. If you really think that we are at war against you and that we need to be "crushed" then you have missed the point of the World Community Grid entirely. The title of the project is a good clue, I find, "World Community" - it's about people around the world joining together under no banner and working together for the common good. Could you feed this back to your TribalWar friends. Regards Dave ![]() |
