confused Mac client does not switch tasks. Time setting is ignored.

Have identically configured Mac and Win clients running here (all most recent versions), but only the Win client respects the setting to "switch between applications every _30_ minutes"... Given a similarly varied set of different projects in their work queues, the Mac clients ignore this setting and work through the work units in FIFO order from start to finish of each WU rather than skipping around like the Win client does between different projects working a little here, a little there on different projects. Why is the behavior so? Is this an unreported bug?

No, that's normal. BOINC will only change the order if a deadline is in danger of being missed.

The application switch setting is for people attached to non-WCG projects.

Re: Mac client does not switch tasks. Time setting is ignored.

"A little here, a little there" buys you very little if any progress if your settings have not been set properly. Not only that. The more projects, the more jobs in "waiting to run" state and loading and unloading or hogging of RAM. highly inefficient. Suggest to set the switch time to 24 hours divided by active projects.

As for running start to finish on FIFO, hard to believe. At some point in time when the resource use reaches a certain balance on long and short term debt will BOINC switch project, if there is work for one or more non-WCG projects. Staring is what BOINC does not like. Let it run.

As to effectuating the preferences, visit the activity menu of the BOINC manager and set the work option to run accordingly.
