Hi All,
Im hoping someone can help with a query I have. Only been crunching since September, so please forgive me if this is a silly question. I've been crunching for HCC, Fight Aids and Rice for a few weeks now. But i'm unable to download any new wu's - my Power Mac normally crunches through four wu's at a time and is down to its last two, while my old G4 wont get any new tasks at all. I have downloaded new wu's for ABC and Seti - with no problems Is it a platform issue? Or are there limited wu's at the moment due to the current competitions? Any help is appreciated. Thanks Si |

What's the message log saying? Is it even attempting to fetch work from WCG? If WCG got allot of crunching time in it sometimes gets paused to allow other projects for a while. Suspending all other projects but WCG [in the project view of the BOINC Manager] will tell you quickly.

The other projects weren't running - had clicked on the 'no new tasks' button nearly two weeks ago
messages tab on my G4 reads Sat Dec 13 09:11:29 2008|World Community Grid|Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. Requesting 0 seconds of work, reporting 1 completed tasks |

Sorry - the last post should have been longer - it showed more from the messages tab detailing attempts to get work but not succeeding - but no reason is being given.

Requesting 0 seconds of work BOINC thinks you don't need any work. Probably your project debts are wrong after having the others set to "no work" for a long time. Try resetting the project to reset the debt. |

Thanks Didactylos, just took my daughter to gymnastics, got back, read your post and found a wu had just downloaded - had even started to reset the project!
Just me being too eager I suppose! But will try resetting if it happens again. Si |

For my understanding when writing about the last 2 tasks in progress, were 2 of 4 cores actually idling or were you getting nervous and let ABS/SETI eat up some of the crunching time due? That should not have happened.

That should not have happened. All's well that ends well though. Hey Sekerob, The power Mac is only running and has only ever run WCG projects - but its my computer at work, so will have to wait until Monday to see what is happening there - can see its workload in the results status. We leave them on 24/7 The G4 is at home - which is running fine since downloading wu's for Seti and ABC. Will post again on Monday to let you know how the Power Mac is running. Thanks Si |
