smile MAC BEHIND A PROXY

Hello,

I have been using the software for a long time now. I have now tried to convince people at my new school to set it up. The school is running a Firewall and we opened the ports. Everything works fine for Windows. But I myself and some other here are using macs. We are applying the same settings as on the windows machines but We get the following message constantly

Re: MAC BEHIND A PROXY

Have you tried going step-by-step through the proxy help? http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=proxy

The Windows version (6.2.28) uses a newer version of the networking library, precisely because World Community Grid wanted better proxy support. So, these workarounds have a good chance of succeeding in your case.

Post again if you run into trouble.

Re: MAC BEHIND A PROXY

Hey I tried those things stated their but they don't seem to work. first of all it took me ages to find the files on my mac.
But than there was no file call cc_config and when i tried to create one these were the messages that came up
Mi 10 Dez 14:23:46 2008||Missing start tag in cc_config.xml
Do you know where exactly all those files should be on a mac or if there are generally any differences using a mac for the Proxy help?

Re: MAC BEHIND A PROXY

I see. You must have mistyped something in the file. Can you post it for me to check?

Re: MAC BEHIND A PROXY

It looks okay.

But BOINC is stupid, and doesn't really support XML. If you saved it as Unicode, BOINC may fail to read it. Are there any character encoding options in your text editor? Saving it as ASCII is your best bet.

Re: MAC BEHIND A PROXY

my only formats are rtf doc and xml

If they are not optimal would you know a programm that could save the text in this certain format you mentioned?

Re: MAC BEHIND A PROXY

I asked for suggestions, and my helpful friends said "emacs".

My more helpful friends said: TextEdit -> Format -> Make Plain Text -> File -> Save As -> Plaintext Encoding == Western -> Save ?

Re: MAC BEHIND A PROXY

I know put in the config_cc file in the given format. this resolved the problem of there being an error message concerning this file. But it didn't solve the problem of connecting. I can conect to the service for logging in for a new project but not to the actual project.
Now i used the ntlm in the place your site told me. (simply because when trying to open videos it says type in ntlm network varification)
It seems to me as if BOINC wouldn't react to the file. Simply because when i copied the link given to make boinc show you the type of proxy that showed no reaction.

This is again the error message:

Re: MAC BEHIND A PROXY

This is my fault. I forgot to ask you a really basic question: have you set up BOINC to use your proxy?

All these advanced settings won't help if you don't have that done (and you haven't, because you have <proxy_debug> enabled, but aren't getting any proxy messages in your message log).

To set the proxy, open BOINC Manager (use the advanced view) and click on Advanced -> Options....

Enter your proxy information, including username and password if required.
