Running 8 CEP2 beta work units in parallel on my i7-860 system without a problem, I finally succeeded to get a beta badge.

I would argue that it is a lot easier to get that bronze beta nowadays and less prestigious. Especially for those willing to babysit machines and troll the forums to keep up on when they are issued. These last few releases were rather easy to pick up and at around 12 hours per unit, many can get the bronze in no time. I know I picked up around 20 or so this last time and I didn't put a lot of effort into it. I think the only ones struggling are the "set and forget" crowd and those with only a small number of cores. I don't have a lot of heavy hitters, but I do have a dozen or so PC's running all the time. Using a few of the tricks mentioned in these forums, it doesn't take a lot of effort to hoard units.

I think the only ones struggling are the "set and forget" crowd Being a member of the 'set and forget' group, at least for Beta, I was very pleased to get 31 WU and have all of them validated. Optimal configuration is all that is required. Oh yes, also patience; and stamina since you don't get a Beta badge right away as you have to be here quite a while. On average, I have crunched one day of Beta for every 4 months of other projects and I think that is higher than average. With the new Beta distribution rules (which I agree with), set and forget is the only way to go. ![]() |

Bronze Beta after 6 years of crunching. Maybe it is "less prestigious" but I am going to savor it nonetheless.
